Knitting uses yarn which can be made from any number of natural (wool, cotton, cashmere, .) or synthetic fibres. The kind of yarn used for knitting will determine the look and feel of the final product. For example, knitted cloth made out of wool yarn versus acrylic yarn. Thinner yarns are generally used with smaller, thinner knitting needles and thicker yarns are used with larger knitting needles.
