Cashmere wool is the wool obtained from the Cashmere goat. Its name derives from a spelling of Kashmir. Cashmere is characterized by its luxuriously soft fibers which are highly adaptable and are easily constructed into fine or thick cashmere yarn which can be knit into light or heavy weight fabrics. Natural colours for cashmere yarn are different ranges of grey, brown, and white. The term cashmere wool or cashmere yarn is sometimes incorrectly applied to any extremely soft wool regardless of origin.
